Cherry Bus lines is running a pickup/dropoff service for Smoke & Sounds Festival. The loop travels from Drayton all the way to the cottagers, and Conestoga campers, and around to Moorefield, then back to Drayton.
The bus runs on both Friday and Saturday, from 5pm to 1am at every 2 hour mark.
Make sure you are at the road along this route, and the bus will stop for you.
The Kinsmen have embarked on a new venture this year The Kinsmen Smoke n Sounds Festival will be July 10th and 11th at the Drayton fairgrounds.
This promises to be a weekend of great tunes, great events and great cookin' featuring Three barbeque classes.
First is a KANSAS CITY BBQ SOCIETY sanctioned professional class doing a 4 meat cook off with a total prize pkg of $4000, Entry fee is $250 and we already have many from the circuit attending.
Second class is the local amateur class 2 meat cook-off with the public judging, Entry fee is $70 and the meat is provided. Meat Turn in Time is 3pm (chicken) and 330pm (ribs)
Third, the Kiddies can enter to cook-off against their friends. Adult supervision is required, Entry fee is $30 and the meat is provided.
Winners of these events will be announced in between the Lawnmower Races!
While all this barbequing is going on several other events will be keeping you entertained !!!
Keep in mind, the cost to attend and walk around the general open air spaces of the event on Friday evening and Saturday up to 7pm, are at no cost to you and your family. We ask that, if you are able to donate a small amount of money at the gate, you may do so at your discretion.
Starting at 5pm, The Kinette club of Palmerston will be doing a Wing'N Fries night Friday with beer tent open, hosted by the Drayton Kinsmen. Starting at 8am, Saturday we will have food booths by the Drayton Rotary, Boy Scouts, and Palmerston Kinettes on the grounds. The Junior Farmers will be hosting the widely popular Farmers Olympics on Saturday afternoon 1pm-4pm and the Drayton Kinettes will be entertaining the wee children 1pm-4pm at Kinsmen Park after the Mapleton Market closes for the day at 12pm. Of course refreshments will be served throughout the day and nights events. Starting at 4pm you will see and hear a display of power and torque with sanctioned Lawnmower Racing Circuit coming to race at the track on the fair grounds. This is something you are not going to want to miss!

A mouthwatering Pulled Pork Dinner cooked low and slow with all the fixins will be available from 5pm till 8pm hosted by the Drayton Kin family, only $15 per person.
On the stage Friday night, Saturday afternoon, and Saturday night will be featuring many local favorites. Friday Night, Jeff Holdridge, The Moore Brothers, Saturday afternoon Ephaim Frey's Olde Tyme Country, Loose Change, and Brendan O'Halloran. This is a free outdoor concert up until 8pm, and after that wristbands will be sold to (age of majority) for 15$ for the headliner concert. Feature acts for the headliners act include, Kyle Boyne, Ty Baynton, and also The City Boys.
Which will lead us into the Drayton Fair August 7th to 9th hosted by the Drayton Mapleton Agricultural Society and again we will be hosting the entertainment tent and sponsoring a class at the tractor pull, and also sponsoring a portion of the Demo Derby on the Sunday.
The Drayton Kinsmen and Kinettes are making Mapleton a better place to live and raise a family.
